Privacy

There is no long list of possibilities. What leaves your machine hangs on two switches, and both are in the settings under Data and privacy.

The two switches

Recognition. Where your voice becomes text: through Stenowise or on this device.
Cleanup. Whether the text goes to the server to be edited.

That gives four cases, and the app writes out in one sentence which one is currently in force:

Through Stenowise, cleanup on. The recording, your own words and the dictated text go to the Stenowise server in the EU.
Through Stenowise, cleanup off. Only the recording and your own words go there. You get the raw text.
On this device, cleanup on. The recording stays here and is dropped after recognition. Only the recognised text goes to the server.
On this device, cleanup off. Nothing leaves your machine.

Of your dictionary only your own words travel, as a hint for the recognition. Your replacements stay here: they are already applied before anything is sent at all.

What never leaves your machine

The history. It is a file on your device.
The stats. Every figure is computed locally, no usage data goes anywhere.
Your settings.
Your dictionary, as long as you do not turn on syncing between devices.
Window contents and window titles.
Field contents, even when "Learn from corrections" is switched on.

The name of the application

With "Use the application context" on, and where a style applies to that application, its name travels along so the tone of the finished text comes out right. The name and nothing more. Where no style applies, the name does not travel either. How the two hang together is under Voice Styles.

What happens on the server

The server is in the EU. The recording is not stored there, and no dictated text is written down, neither into a file nor into a log.

The logs carry counts and timestamps, not a single dictated sentence. That holds at every log level. So you can tick the box for the log on a support report without thinking twice.

Dictations your own machine recognised are counted as well. What the app reports for those is a number and a length, nothing else.

What you can delete yourself

Single entries in the history or the entire history at once.
Texts. By default they are not deleted at all. You can set 30 or 90 days.
Recordings. By default they are not kept in the first place. Turn it on and they stay 14 days, or 7 or 30 if you prefer.
The history entirely. Off, a dictation is gone once it is inserted: no entry, no recording.

Dictionary syncing

The only route on which your dictionary leaves the machine. It is off in the shipped state. Turn it on and your entries sit encrypted on the server so your second device can fetch them. It is the words and the replacements only, never any dictated text. Turn it off again and the copy is deleted. More on that under Dictionary.
