Account

Stenowise runs on your account. What that means for you is here: how you sign in, what the first month costs, how the counting works and how to get out again.

Signing in

Without a signed-in device Stenowise dictates nothing. That holds even when the recognition runs on your own machine.

The sign-in opens in your browser. After that this device is connected to your account, and the settings under Account say that it is signed in.

An existing sign-in keeps working without a connection. A machine in a tunnel or off the network does not lock you out.

The free month

Every new account starts with 30 days of full Pro access. There is nothing to activate and no card to enter. It ends by itself and nothing is charged.

Seven days before the end you get an email. Once the month is up your account moves to Free, unless you subscribed before then.

Subscribing during the free month costs you nothing. The subscription applies from that moment, and the end of the free month does not take it away again.

Free and Pro

  • Free means 2,000 words a week, with every feature. Free is not a cut-down version, it just counts. The exact figure is always in the app, and it comes from the server.
  • Pro means no word limit. Nothing is counted and nothing is blocked.

What is counted are the words you receive, so the finished text and not the recording. Dictations your own machine recognised count as well. The app reports a number and a length for those afterwards, never a word of the dictation itself.

The weekly allowance

The app shows at the top how much of the week is left. It resets on Monday.

Once the allowance is used up, dictation pauses. Nothing else does: your history, dictionary and settings stay open, and you can reach everything that is already there. The count starts again on Monday, and a move to Pro takes effect straight away.

If the allowance runs out in the middle of a dictation, you get the raw transcript for that one instead of the edited version, with a note saying so.

Managing and cancelling the subscription

In the settings under Account, "Manage subscription" takes you to the browser. That page says when your subscription renews, and it is where you cancel.

Cancelling takes nothing away at once. Nothing changes until the end of the period you paid for, after that your account moves to Free. The date is on the page and in the confirmation email.

Two more things live on the same page:

  • Payment method. If your card has expired or you changed it, you add a new one here. A small amount is charged to check it and refunded straight away.
  • Invoices. Every invoice arrives as a PDF by email. Older ones are on your subscription page.

Deleting the account

In the settings under Account. Your account, your allowance and everything stored for it on the server is deleted immediately and for good.

Your history and your dictionary live only on your device and stay there. Dictation works again once you sign in with an account.
