Which systems does Stenowise support?
Applies to: Windows, macOS, Linux
Stenowise runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. For recognition on the device, your computer also needs storage space and, depending on the recognition tier, a graphics chip.
Operating systems
| System | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Windows | Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit |
| macOS | macOS 10.15 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel |
| Linux | Packages as deb, rpm and AppImage, pasting under Wayland and X11 |
You find the download for Windows at stenowise.com/en/download. The downloads for macOS and Linux will follow.
Pasting on Linux
On Linux, Stenowise types the text in through a typing tool. One of these tools must be installed:
- Wayland: wtype, dotool or ydotool, on KDE also kwtype
- X11: xdotool or ydotool
Storage for recognition
Recognition through Stenowise needs no special hardware. For recognition on the device, Stenowise downloads a recognition tier, which then stays on your computer.
| Recognition tier | Storage | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Compact | 705 MB | Runs on any computer. |
| Precise | 1.08 GB | Graphics with at least 2 GB of video memory, built-in graphics included, and at least 8 GB of RAM |
Stenowise checks your computer and shows only the tiers that run on it. Exactly one tier carries the “Recommended” label: Precise with suitable graphics, Compact otherwise. To download a tier, see Download, switch and delete recognition tiers.
