Uninstall Stenowise
Applies to: Windows, macOS, Linux
Uninstalling removes the program from your computer. Depending on the system, you delete the app data with a checkbox in the uninstaller or by hand.
Before you uninstall
The app data holds your history, dictionary, settings, recordings and the downloaded recognition tiers. The folder is called com.stenowise.app.
- Open Settings › Advanced.
- Click “Open folder” next to “App data” and note the location.
- Click “Open folder” next to “Logs” and note that location too.
- Quit Stenowise from the icon › “Quit”.
Windows
- Open the Windows settings and go to Apps.
- Select Stenowise and click “Uninstall”.
- In the uninstaller, tick the checkbox for deleting the app data if your history, dictionary and recognition tiers should go as well.
The uninstaller removes the program, the shortcuts and the start with the computer. The checkbox is not ticked by default. Without it, the app data stays on your computer.
macOS
- Drag Stenowise from the Applications folder to the Trash.
- Delete the two folders you opened before if the app data should go as well.
macOS has no separate uninstaller for Stenowise. The app data stays until you delete the folders.
Linux
- Remove the package with your system's package manager. If you use the AppImage file, delete it.
- Delete the folders you opened before if the app data should go as well.
The app data stays until you delete the folders.
Your account
Your Stenowise account stays in place when you uninstall the app. To delete it, see Delete your account.
