What is Stenowise?
Applies to: Windows, macOS, Linux
Stenowise is a dictation app for Windows, macOS and Linux. With Stenowise you dictate into Outlook, Word, Teams and any other program.
How dictation works
You hold a keyboard shortcut and speak. When you let go of the keys, Stenowise puts the finished text in at the position of the cursor. Stenowise runs in the background for this. You use the window for settings, history, dictionary and Voice Styles.
Where recognition runs
Recognition runs through the Stenowise server or directly on your computer. With Through Stenowise, the recording goes through the Stenowise server in Nuremberg for recognition, and your computer needs no special hardware. With On this device, Stenowise downloads a recognition tier once and then recognises your dictation on your computer.
Text cleanup
The text cleanup turns the raw version into clean text. By default it adds punctuation and removes filler words. It runs through the Stenowise server at a service provider in Paris and is on by default. You set how much it changes on the Voice Styles page.
Account
To dictate, you need a Stenowise account. With a new account you dictate without a word limit for the first 30 days. No credit card is required.
To get Stenowise onto your computer, see Install and set up Stenowise.
