HelpAccount and plan

Delete your account

Applies to: Windows, macOS, Linux

You delete your Stenowise account in the app settings. A running subscription ends at the same time.

Deleting your account cannot be undone.

Delete your account

  1. Open Settings › Account.
  2. In the Delete account row, click Delete ….
  3. In the “Delete this account for good?” dialog, click Delete for good.

Stenowise then shows “Your account has been deleted.” Your other devices show “Sign-in required”. Without the app, you can delete your account on the website at stenowise.com/en/delete-account.

What is deleted

Stenowise deletes your account and everything stored for your account on the server:

  • Stenowise ends a running subscription first. If that fails, Stenowise deletes nothing.
  • The word count for the weekly limit is deleted.
  • The copy of your dictionary on the server is deleted if you use the “On every device” sync.
  • Shared dictionaries that you own are deleted for all members.

Your entries in shared dictionaries owned by others stay there.

What stays on the device

Your history and dictionary live only on your device and stay. You can dictate again only with an account. To delete the history, see Keep or delete history and recordings. How to remove the app data as well is described in Uninstall Stenowise.
