Sign in and sign out
Applies to: Windows, macOS, Linux
To dictate, your device must be signed in to Stenowise. You sign in through your browser.
- Click Sign in in Stenowise. The button appears during setup and in the “Sign-in required” window.
- In the browser, sign in with your email address and password, or choose Continue with Google.
- Close the browser window when it shows “Signed in”.
While the sign-in runs, Stenowise shows “Waiting for the browser …”. Click Cancel to stop it. Afterwards, Settings › Account shows “Signed in on this device”.
Create an account
- Click Create account in Stenowise.
- In the browser, enter your email address and a password with at least 10 characters.
- Click Create account.
- Open the confirmation link in the email. It is valid for 24 hours.
With a new account you dictate without a word limit for the first 30 days. See What applies during the free month?
Sign out
- Open Settings › Account.
- Under Stenowise account, click Sign out.
Your history and dictionary stay on the device after you sign out. If the server does not confirm the sign-out, Stenowise shows “The server did not confirm the sign-out. You are still signed in. Try again.”
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a connection to dictate?
An existing sign-in keeps working without a connection. “Sign-in required” only appears when no account is signed in on the device or when the server rejects the sign-in, for example after you sign out or change your password. See “Sign-in required” appears.
What do I do if I forgot my password?
On the sign-in page, click Forgot your password? and enter your email address. The reset link is valid for 30 minutes.
