What happens when the weekly limit is reached?
Applies to: Windows, macOS, Linux
With Free you dictate 2,000 words a week. The counter resets every Monday, at the same time for every account.
How Stenowise counts
Stenowise counts the words of the finished text, after the text cleanup. Dictations that your computer recognises itself count too, as do “Recognise again” in the history and text you change by voice.
The week starts on Monday at 00:00 UTC, which is 01:00 in Germany and 02:00 during summer time. If you create your account in the middle of the week, you still get the full 2,000 words. Only the first period until Monday is shorter.
The sidebar shows your count under “This week”. You also find it under Settings › Account in the Words this week row.
When the limit is reached
Once the limit is reached, no new dictation starts. When you press the shortcut, Stenowise shows the notice “Weekly limit reached”: “You can dictate again from Monday, or right away with Pro.” Your history and dictionary stay usable.
If you reach the limit during a dictation, Stenowise pastes that dictation as the raw version, without text cleanup. The notice then reads “Stenowise pasted the raw version. A new week starts on Monday, or right away with Pro.”
You have two options:
- Wait until Monday. The counter then starts again at 2,000.
- Get Pro. The lock ends when you book, and you dictate on without a word limit.
To book Pro, see Get Pro, manage and cancel your subscription.
